New Natural Insect Repellent

OMG! I couldn't wait to tell you!

I worked all day pruning azalea bushes. Normally I have about a hundred bug bites on my arms and legs. Not mosquito bites but some microscopic bug that lives in azaleas.

Today I sprayed the new Natural Insect Repellent on my arms and legs a couple of times throughout the day... and not 1 bug bite. A few scratches... but not 1 bug bite. This is amazing!

I love the smell of this Insect Repellent. It is DEET-free and uses 5 essential oils...so the fragrance is wonderful!

Just had to share!

May everyone have a blessed weekend!

Heading outside to work in my yard today. I have many azaleas that need trimming. Hope to finish them over the next couple of weekends.

Looking forward to trying out a new Natural Insect Repellent to keep from getting my arms and legs covered with bug bites. I'll let you know how it works.

May you have a blessed weekend!

All supplements are NOT the same...Beware!

NOT ALL VITAMINS/MINERALS ARE EQUAL!

Most vitamin/mineral complex on the market do little good and can actually harm you. The reason... your body can not absorb the nutrients thru the intestinal wall.

Don't get me wrong, the nutrients are in the vitamin/mineral supplement to begin with , but as they pass thru the stomach and into the intestines the minerals crystalize and can't be absorbed. Even worse... this crystallization process causes free radicals to form... so the antioxidants in the vitamins are being used up in the intestines to fight the free radicals.

If you are taking a supplement and don't notice much difference...this is the reason why.

This may not be the case with whole foods supplements from a health store. But they are so expensive.

I shop at an online wellness store that has patented technology that prebinds minerals to organic proteins and fibers...similar to the way they exist in fruits, vegetables and other whole foods. The minerals can freely be absorbed and... along with the vitamins... are available for protection throughout the body. So they actually do you good and you can feel the difference in your energy level and vitality.

Like I said before, if your body has the nutrients it needs, it can take care of itself. Many customers report significant changes in their health after taking these supplements and are able to decrease if not eliminate their prescription drugs.

My goal is to help people decrease and possibly eliminate RX drugs.

In my next post I will retell a story of  a customer who was diagnosed with diabetes 26 years ago, taking 160 units of insulin/day. With the right supplements, his body is taking care of itself and he is insulin free now. I get goose bumps every time I read this story. I want to reach out to every diabetic and inform them.

Importance of vitamins and minerals

I have begun a new journey, but I was laying in bed wondering what should the next blog be about. I have so much to share. I decided I would start with the supplements I take and why.

There is so much controversy over whether people need to take additional vitamins/minerals or not. There are Drs who say if you eat a healthy diet, you don't need supplements. Other Drs feel, like I do, that supplements are essential. Most mainstream Drs receive very little training in school about nutrition and are consistently being bombarded by drug reps who are pushing their company's newest products as a solution to health issues.

On the other hand, Doctors of Osteopath are very knowledgable about nutrition and the role supplements play to keep people healthy. They focus on total health and wellbeing and not just on treating symptoms. So I choose to follow these Drs.

In the olden days, people grew their own vegetables in soil that was not depleted of nutrients because of overuse.  They picked the vegetable when they were ripe and immediately cooked them and ate them. In this scenario, there is a possibility they received the vitamins and minerals they needed.

Today, the process is so different. The soils are depleted with overuse. (If the nutrients are not in the soil...they won't be in the fruits/vegetables). The produce is picked early so it came be shipped across country or to other countries. How can anything grown in South America have any nutritional value by the time I put it in my mouth???

I have access to a farmer's market once a week and this produce taste so much better. But, I still don't eat it all in one night...it last for a week.

My solution...use fruits/vegetables for roughage and to keep from being hungry and rely of supplements to keep my body healthy.

Of course, that brings up another issue...not all supplements are the same and many cause harm. I'll talk about that in my next post.

Here I go...

This blog was set up 6 years ago...however... it has taken me awhile to slowly grow into the idea of sharing my thoughts and knowledge. I am all about health and wellness and subscribe to many websites that offer information daily on how to be healthier. In the last 6 months it has occurred to me that I need to share this information with anyone who would be interested. After all, life is about helping others. A friend suggested I do this thru my blog. So...here I am...sharing my passion in the hopes it will help others

As I said, I am passionate about health and wellness and taking steps to make sure I stay healthy. To me, PREVENTION is the KEY! I am almost 65 years young and do not take any RX medications. I have seen what Rx drugs did to my mom and dad and aunt and uncle who I cared for. I would prefer to keep my body healthy so it can take care of itself. Don't get me wrong, I eat foods I know I shouldn't that taste so good, and I don't exercise enough, but at least I am trying. I do take supplements that gives my body the best chance of fighting off disease. There is a family history of heart disease, stroke and Alzheimer's... diseases I never what to deal with. So I take supplements to keep my blood vessels working properly. I also take supplements for a healthy digestion... if your digestive track is not healthy, you can't properly absorb the nutrients you consume.  Being overweight is a major contributor to diseases, so I watch what I eat...at least most of the time. I am learning the role free radicals play in diseases and take supplements to decrease the free radicals in my body.

I am learning the differences in "good" fats and "bad" fats and which oils are best to consume. What foods to eat and what to avoid. When and how to eat to keep your metabolism working efficiently. So much info to share.

Do you think the products on the store shelves are safe for you to use? I use to think so, but now know better. So I found an online wellness store to buy all my personal care, household, cosmetics and nutritional products. Now when I go to the grocery store, it is only for food and I can skip about 4 aisles.

I am excited about trying out this blog idea and seeing what happens. I want to make an impact on your life.  Comment and let me know if I make sense...am I helping? If you have questions, I will do my best at answering them.

To your excellent health!

About Me

My photo
I have a passion for health and the prevention of disease.Even though my profession was in the health care field as a RN, my awareness of the role we can play in our own health began over 30 years ago when my husband became chronically ill. I started by checking out the foods we were eating. I learned that many foods contained unhealthy preservatives. Much to my kids objection, I limited the amount of sugar in the foods I bought. Over the years, my food purchases changed as more options were offered. Today we can actually purchase healthy foods that also taste good. About 9 years ago I became aware of the harmful and caustic chemicals in the personal care and home care products I was using. I thought the products on the grocery store shelves were safe to use. I learn how untrue that is and found an online wellness store to shop at. I now have peace of mind knowing that my personal care and household products are not putting me at risk for disease.
