Committing to be healthy is an ongoing battle. You may have tried and failed in the past, but I ENCOURAGE YOU to try again and keep trying until you actually find something that works for you.
I use to see a new diet plan and promptly try it out (and I have tried many) but after a short time, it didn't make sense to continue. I remember when I tried to have a protein shake at night and eat my dinner (larger meal) at noon. In theory, it made sense...more time to work off your caloric intake before bedtime. In reality, it didn't make sense for me to consume a shake while the rest of the family was enjoying their dinner. I tried eating for my blood type and the one where you could only combine certain types of foods with others. This meant never having a hamburger or sandwich again. The list goes on...
The plus from trying so many different diet plans is you start to get a better perspective of what makes sense to you and is really important. For me now, it is not all about being skinny, but being HEALTHY! That is my focus today.
I am sure you have heard the recommendations to eliminate processed foods, sugar, fats, breads from your diet. That is so depressing and very hard to follow. Let me give you a solution in your attempt to eat healthier.
It's not that we have to totally eliminate the foods we love but are not healthy for us, but limit them. Now, I am not one that can take a bite of something "bad" and leave the rest... especially if that food is a carb. My relationship with carbs is that they destroy my willpower. When I take one bite, then I just have to have another, and another...and so on. It is like there is a line that I cross and once I do, I can't stop.
My solution...I have given myself a cheat day to eat the foods that are not the best for me! My cheat day is Sunday...it's the Lord's day and a day to celebrate! It has been so freeing and easy to deny myself eating sweets, processed breads, unhealthy fats throughout the week knowing I can have what I want on Sunday. What I am finding, is that choosing to go without the foods that make me feel guilty during the week, diminishes my desire to indulge on Sunday. Win, Win!
Anyways, I want to be your cheerleader and cheer you on to keep trying TO BE HEALTHY! Think about what you want, where your weaknesses are and what you can change to be healthy. The result? You will feel better, have more energy, sleep better, your skin will look better, your organs will function better which all leads to a HEALTHIER LIFE!
Let me know if you want to discuss what hasn't worked for you or if you need someone to cheer you on. I have lots of ideas.
To Your Excellent Health!

About Me
- Willene
- I have a passion for health and the prevention of disease.Even though my profession was in the health care field as a RN, my awareness of the role we can play in our own health began over 30 years ago when my husband became chronically ill. I started by checking out the foods we were eating. I learned that many foods contained unhealthy preservatives. Much to my kids objection, I limited the amount of sugar in the foods I bought. Over the years, my food purchases changed as more options were offered. Today we can actually purchase healthy foods that also taste good. About 9 years ago I became aware of the harmful and caustic chemicals in the personal care and home care products I was using. I thought the products on the grocery store shelves were safe to use. I learn how untrue that is and found an online wellness store to shop at. I now have peace of mind knowing that my personal care and household products are not putting me at risk for disease.
